As one of the original dancers on Solid Gold from 1979-81, Helene also had
the opportunity to assist choreographer Kevin Carlisle while on the show.
Helene's professional dance career took off while she was a student majoring
in dance at UCLA. She began performing in private disco clubs in Los
Angeles and at Playboy Clubs. She also toured with the magic act of Harry
Blackstone, Jr. and toured Japan for four months appearing in various shows.
She once danced on a year-long scholarship at the Roland Dupree Dance
Academy.
After her time on Solid Gold, Helene moved on to bigger and better projects!
She appeared in the 1983 movie "Staying Alive," and also served as an
assistant to the film's choreographers Dennon and Sayhber Rawles.
The same is true for the 1985 film "A Chorus Line." If you watch closely
during the beginning segment of the movie, you can probably spot Helene
sweating her heart out at the audition. Yet she also assisted the film's
choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday with Greg Burge, Troy Garza, Brad Jeffries
and Vickie Regan.
Then in 1986, Helene worked as the assistant choreographer for the 17
minute, $40 million 3-D space fantasy film "Captain Eo," starring Michael
Jackson. What was it like working with Michael? ''I didn't see anything
freaky,'' Helene said in a 1987 article about Jackson. ''No big ego. He was
friendly and had a good time. I'd sit on his lap to discuss shots.''
She also has worked with superstar diva Madonna. Helene assisted
choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday on the 1987 "Who's That Girl" tour.
In addition, Helene has choreographed numerous music videos, such as Karyn
White's "Love the Way You Love Me," Jack Wagner's "Weatherman Says," and
videos for the Greg Kihn Band, Shaun Earl and Sweat.
She reunited with fellow Solid Gold dancer Deborah Jenssen during the Was
Not Was video "Walk the Dinosaur" in 1989. Helene choreographed the video,
while Deborah appeared as a dancer. A People magazine review of the video
said Helene's choreography made "inanity fun and sexism sexy."
Most recently, Helene choreographed the 1998 movie "Mafia" featuring Leslie
Nielsen.
Helene, who stands 5'5, was born on September 24 in Los Angeles, CA.
