KEVIN CARLISLE

Solid Gold Choreographer
(1979 - 1982)

Solid Gold fans know Kevin Carlisle as the "creator" of the Solid Gold Dancers, since he was the show's first choreographer.

Born on December 24, 1935, this Brooklyn native is a graduate of the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City.

Solid Gold fans know Kevin best as a choreographer, but his talents reach far beyond that. He also has assumed the roles of director and producer on many of his projects!

Some of the biggest names in show business have used Kevin's talents on their projects. He has worked along side celebrities like Bing Crosby, Monty Hall, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cosby, Jim Nabors, Jerry Lewis, Debbie Reynolds, Dinah Shore and Tony Bennett - to name a few!

In addition, singer Barry Manilow has utilized Kevin's talents on numerous occasions, including his national and international tours, several of his specials - like Showtime's 1983 show "Barry Manilow in Concert" - and choreography for "Barry Manilow On Broadway."

Kevin also worked on many televisions series, like the Gary Moore show, the Dean Martin show, the Glen Campbell show, Sha Na Na and Benson.

Kevin's list of stage work is just as impressive as his television credits. He has served as director, choreographer and producer for stage shows featuring Shari Lewis, Hank Williams, Jr., Judy Garland, George Burns, Liberace, Connie Stevens, Shields and Yarnell, Melissa Manchester, Tammy Wynette and Marilyn McCoo - to name a few!

In fact, aside from choreographing television's Solid Gold from 1979-1982 - including the 1982 Solid Gold Christmas special - Kevin continued working his golden magic in Las Vegas by acting as director, producer and choreographer of the stage show "Solid Gold at the Riviera Hotel" in 1983 and 1984.

In 1997, Kevin choreographed the musical "Wonderful Town" at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The Los Angeles Times gave Kevin a great review, saying "Kevin Carlisle's choreography flavorfully evokes the show's rambunctious rhythms, and David R. Zyla's white outfits for the chorus line add to the sense of a halcyon era."

In addition, Kevin has done extensive work for the international market, including projects in Canada, Belgium, Germany, France, England, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Japan!

Kevin has won numerous awards for his work, including an Antoinette Perry Award for his choreography of Broadway's "Happy Time," an Emmy Award for the third Barry Manilow special, and an Antoinette Perry nomination for his choreography of Broadway's "Hallelujah, Baby!"

As an accomplished producer, director and choreographer in the entertainment industry, Kevin has held membership in many professional organizations such as the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Actors' Equity Association, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Directors Guild of America, Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
